Why sweep?
Having your chimney swept annually ensures not only an efficient chimney, working with the maximum draw to take the smoke away but also a safer chimney. By removing the build up of sooty material which collects near the top of the flue, you reduce the risk of a chimney fire, which can be devastating. It will also reduce the chances of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the reduced size of your flue, forcing smoke back into your home.
My aims
My aim is to inspect and assess your fireplace or wood burner and to sweep and clear your chimney or flue from the top to the bottom.
I will use a power brush and rod system to ensure the best possible results. All debris will be removed using a ‘Soot Devil’ hoover, which collects 99.9% of all particulates using several built-in filter systems. This protects your health and mine. Cleanliness is my top priority. To protect your home and carpets, clean sheets will be laid all around
and leading up to your fireplace. The sweeping will be fully enclosed within the fireplace. I will leave your home clean and tidy.
On completion of sweeping your chimney and after tidying up, I will advise you on good fuels and fire safety. I will suggest positions for carbon monoxide alarms. I will then issue you with a certificate to state your chimney has been inspected and cleaned. This is a legal requirement for landlords whose properties have fireplaces and the first thing an insurer will enquire about in the event of a fire. Be safe. Have your chimney swept annually.
For your convenience once I have serviced your chimney, with your permission I will contact you the following year to suggest your annual sweep.

My name is Sebastian, and I run Red Kite Chimney Sweeps, 'Sweeping over Guildford and the Surrey Hills.'
I offer chimney sweeping on all fireplaces and wood burners, along with CCTV inspections and advice as well as a bird nests and squirrel drey removal service.
I am fully trained and will produce my certification on arrival, as well as being fully insured.

Bird nests and blockages
If you suspect a bird is nesting or your chimney is blocked, I can use a CCTV camera to inspect internally from top to bottom to determine the cause. If I can legally remove a birds nest I will. Like hedgerows, this cannot be done at certain times of year unless certain circumstances allow. I can advise on all these things. If the blockage is because of a fault or a broken chimney I can suggest companies to help.
